The Flint Steelers Knights was formed by Joe and Stacey Allen in the fall of 2001. At this time, I was approached to coach the team. It was a rocky first season. Individuals came to this team with varying skill levels. Each year we tend to get different players added to our team. This happens for several reasons. The main reason is the team stats. The players want to play on the teams they couldn't get on the year before or they want to play on a team with "bigger" stats. The players usually make the other teams they try out for which says a lot a for the coach and trainers. I do understand this desire to be on a "big winning team". One of these years the players and parents will realize that if we can keep the team together this team could be one of those "big winning teams". I, as a coach, am extremely proud of this team. The group of players I get always learn much, listen well and no matter the score always leave with smiles on their faces and a good attitude. Because of their attitude and their interest in team development they tend to develop greatly throughout the season and the scores show this. I look forward to seeing the development of each and every one of them!
